Tempered Safety Glass
Tempered safety glass is glass with increased mechanical and thermal strength and a safe breakage pattern. With flat and bent options, Camglass offers solutions for the varying dimensional, design and performance requirements of architectural projects.
Available in clear, low-iron, tinted, ceramic printed and enamelled options. For flat tempered glass, toughenable Low-E and Solar Low-E coatings for thermal insulation and solar control are also available.
Tempered glass can be used in architectural applications as monolithic glass or in laminated and insulating glass units. Glass thickness and build-up are determined by design loads, fixing system, safety and insulation requirements. Suitable laminated build-ups are preferred in applications where post-breakage integrity must be maintained.
In line with project specifications and requests, Camglass supplies heat soak tested tempered safety glass. By reducing the risk of spontaneous breakage caused by nickel sulphide inclusions, this test provides additional assurance, particularly on high-rise façades where glass replacement is difficult and in applications with limited access.
Key Features
High Strength
Provides high resistance to impact and loads.
Safe Breakage
Breaks into small, blunt fragments, reducing the risk of injury.
Thermal Resistance
Resistant to sudden temperature changes.
Related Production Processes
Before heat treatment: Cutting and edge grinding; drilling and CNC processing according to the fixing detail. For printed or painted options, surface applications are completed before tempering.
Subsequent processes: Heat soak testing as specified; lamination or insulating glass assembly depending on the product build-up.
Applications
Façade Glazing
Glass Doors
Shopfronts
Interior Partitions
